Very Good

I am an EE undergrad, and this was the assigned textbook in my third year electrodynamics course. I used Cheng's book before. Cheng's book has a more theoretical approarch and mathematical rigorousness. Ulaby's book, however, is superior when it comes to building an intution or an 'engineering sense' of how systems work and how to solve problems. I would definitely recommend this book for the second/third year EE major whose studying the topic for the first time as the book offers a very accessible introduction and many end-of-chapter problems that are actually doable and can enhance your understading of the subject matter; unlike cheng's problem sets which can get very difficult/challenging.

Makes even simple material hard to study

I've had this book for an undergraduate Electrical and Computer Engineering course in waves and transmission lines. In general, I would say that the book is a mess - it doesn't explain things coherently, jumps between unrelated subjects within the chapter, and fails to link equations in meaningful ways. Our homework problems for the class were assigned directly out of the book, and the students quickly began to describe them as "scavenger hunts" - when you found the equations you needed from the chapter text, the problems were quite easy, but you'd spend more than half the time looking for them and trying to deduce from the text whether they were contextually the right ones to use. Many students would give up on using the text at all and would skip straight to online solution manuals, not to copy answers but simply to find comprehensive lists of the correct equations.
This problem is exacerbated by a near total lack of useful examples, which is a must have for engineering classes. Proper example problems that use the equations and concepts of a chapter are the cornerstone of teaching difficult mathematics and design techniques, but such practical uses are few and far between in Ulaby's text, and tend to be difficult to follow if not entirely incomprehensible. I found the chapter on basic electrostatics to be especially shocking - most physics texts cover the same material in half the space, and include extensive examples of the equations in use, but this text takes almost 30 pages of redundant equations and tangential explanations with almost no useful examples on potential or derivational technique.
In general, if you have a choice, I'd say avoid this text. If not, be prepared to make the most out of online resources, and keep another physics textbook on hand for reference. All the essentials are there, but some major revisions will have to be done to make future editions accessible and useful to students of engineering and the applied sciences.

Book needs more example problems!

I've been using this book for most of the semester now and it lacks... a lot. It'll give you tons of equations and theory, but no ways (or very few ways) to actually apply either. It's quite frustrating to have to rely solely on my professor for suitable examples, especially for a class that is as difficult as this (Electromagnetics). I wish we were using a better book for this class!

Kris Bryant grew up a military brat living in several different countries before her family settled down in the Midwest when she was twelve. Books were her only form of entertainment overseas, and she read anything and everything within her reach. Reading eventually turned into writing when she decided she didn't like the way some of the novels ended and wanted to give the characters she fell in love with the ending she thought they so deserved.

If you are looking for a light, sweet, romance, that is light on drama, this book is for you.
With so many romance novels weighed down by a plethora of angst and conflict, it was a nice break to read a book with just enough of those things to keep it interesting. No cheating. No major family drama. Just two wonderful characters falling in love.

A true love story

This is the kind of love story I love to read. I was cheering on Ki from page one. I like how we didn't know how Taryn felt about Ki. We had an idea but not sure. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. The love scene was beautifully written. I would definitely recommend this book.

Great Book, Despite Flaws

I've just begun perusing this book and although I'm always excited to add a new title to my crochet library, I am disappointed with the proofreading and editing of this book. After a cursory review, I have already discovered multiple typos. For example, "Row 1 (RS): Skip 2 ch, (count as 1 hdc) 1htr into next ch, 1 hdc into each ch to end, turn. Row 2: Ch2, 1 hdc into back bar under top loops of each hdc to end, turn." That's the pattern, but there's no other mention of the "htr," nor does it appear in the accompanying diagram. I've come across several like that; so far they're pretty easily deciphered, either through common sense or the use of the symbol pattern. However, I'm not sure whether all such typos will be so innocuous, once I start working through the various stitches, motifs, and edging.

As the other reviewer mentioned, the wording is a bit unusual, though understandable. One other point worth mentioning: some of the symbol charts/diagrams have been reduced dramatically to fit on the page. I am hoping the smallest and more complex motif patterns will be easily and precisely enlarged, via scanning or copying. Btw, I'm under 40 and do not typically have to enlarge text or images for clarity.

On the plus side, the color photos are crisp and clear; there is a an accompanying crochet symbol diagram for each listing; and, in the beginning of the book, there is a section with detailed explanations of the symbols, stitches, and terms used. I'm pleased and excited to have this title in my collection and recommend it to others.

500 CROCHET STITCHES

Over all, gathered stitch books and put them together in one book to combine and eliminate bulk of other single stitch books.
Symbols to stitch patterns have been made and are much smaller. I LOVE SYMBOL CROCHET CHARTS MYSELF.
No pattern projects but you can figure something out on you own.
VERY NICE STITCH BOOK with ALL the stitch patterns in one place.
Would still recommend it.

Stuck on stitches

The explanation of the stitches is rather vague since I'm a new crocheter many are difficult to follow. I wish they explained the way to follow a pattern in a simpler form.

Was the cradle of the Celts in the sunny peninsula?

What would you know? Eventually British scholars have discovered the vaste amount of textual evidence from Spanish Celts and try to fit them in a general theory about the origin and spread of Celtic languages.
John T. Koch from the University of Wales believes we need to give up the idea that Celtic was developed in central Europe, then spread westward during the 1st millennia BC. This theory leaves unexplained all the evidence for a Celtic language being spoken in the Iberian Peninsula at the time, since Iberia didn`t go through an intense Hallstatt or La Tene period, and there is no evidence of any major invasion from the north.
Instead, Koch claims Celtic developed as a trade language for the elites of the Atlantic fa�ade of Europe during the Bronze Age, when intense trade and cultural contacts can be proven from Portugal all the way through Scotland.
The book comprises different essays from several different authors. I enjoyed especially the archaeology chapters. It is amazing how deep researchers have gone in order to reconstruct a period without any written record.
A great book to understand and celebrate all that connects and unites Europe Western rim.

A Great Read!

I just finished The Wealth Choice. The reason I gave this book 5 stars is it really gives you practical steps to follow to become wealthy. It details the challenges as well as the triumphs. It reminds you that it's not where you start, it's where you finish. I love the part about faith in the book. It encouraged me to utilize my faith resources on my road to financial freedom. I know now, what I need to do to create wealth in my life and now I'm ready. The principals will be my daily tools.

Excellent! Really helps you see wealth from a different perspective.

I had no idea how LONG the book was, and have not read it fully as a result. I rate it 5 stars because I only needed to read the first few chapters to get the benefits. It outlined very clearly about the wealthy and the true principles around creating it. Something many law of attraction books miss is the hard work factor. I also enjoyed the reality of having to make it a choice. After reading it I had a God experience of making that choice, then I had my best month in my baby business ever. I am still getting that choice refined and cultivated and it has not been fun really learning how to pay attention to my money fully and acting frugally. It is a true inner transformation is constantly developing as a result of that choice. To expect it to happen over night, is to set yourself up for failure and a get rich scheme. Not this book, it's exciting to know that I too can be wealthy if I make the choice. In the African American population, I believe it to be a duty!

Upon reading this book i could safely say that both Wallace and Barker and well informed if the technologies. I say this because after looking elsewhere for additional information a lot of it referenced back to this book. The complementary CD has a lot of extras that will enforce what you've written and should be used if your looking to take the exam.
