About the Author
Donald F. Kettl is Dean of the School of Public Policy at the University of Maryland and a nonresident senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. Prior to his appointment, he was the Robert A. Fox Leadership Professor at the University of Pennsylvania and Professor of Political Science. Kettl is the author of numerous books, including The Next Government of the United States: Why Our Institutions Fail Us and How to Fix Them, The Global Public Management Revolution, and Leadership at the Fed. Kettl has twice won the Louis Brownlow Award for the best book in public administration, for The Transformation of Governance: Public Administration for Twenty-first Century America in 2003 and System under Stress: Homeland Security and American Politics in 2005. In 2008, he was awarded the John Gaus Award of the American Political Science Association for lifetime contributions to the scholarship in the joint tradition of political science and public administration. Kettl has consulted broadly for government organizations and is a regular columnist for Governing magazine.

Perfect condition, very lively read.

I needed this book for a class for my Political Science major. I ordered it 3/4 of the way through the semester and during the Thanksgiving break, too. It arrived before I went back to class and was in pristine condition. I applaud the speedy delivery Amazon did, as always. The book was a lot more interesting than what I thought it would be, obviously touching up on current events and relating practical political methods of bureaucracy easily. It can be a touchy book at times if you were personally affected by such disasters as Hurricane Katrina and 9/11 (as all of us are), but I definitely recommend it. If you need this for a class, don't worry. It won't put you to sleep. (:

About the Author

T. Agami Reddy is SRP Professor of Energy and Environment at Arizona State University with joint faculty appointments with the Design School and the School of Sustainable Engineering and the Built Environment. During his 30 year career, he has also held faculty and research positions at Drexel University, Texas A&M University and Princeton University. He teaches and does research in the areas of sustainable energy systems (green buildings, HVAC&R, solar and resiliency/sustainability) and building energy data analytics. He is the author of two textbooks and has close to 200 refereed journal and conference papers, and several book chapters and technical research reports. He is a licensed mechanical engineer and Fellow of both ASME and ASHRAE. He received the ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award in 2008, and was the recipient of the 2014 Yellott Award from the ASME Solar Energy Division.

Jan F. Kreider has served as a professor of engineering at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and is a founding director of its Joint Center for Energy Management. He received his BSME degree (magna cum laude) from Case Western Reserve University, and his postgraduate degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Dr. Kreider is the author of numerous college textbooks and more than 200 technical articles and reports, and has managed numerous building systems research projects. He is a fellow of the ASME, an active member of ASHRAE, and a winner of ASHRAE’s E.K. Campbell Award for excellence in building systems education. He is also the president of a consulting company specializing in energy system design and analysis.

Peter Curtiss received his BSCE degree from Princeton University, and his advanced degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He has served as an adjunct professor, and has worked as an engineering consultant. Dr. Curtiss has he author of over 40 technical journal articles, on subjects ranging from neural network modeling and control of building systems to solar radiation measurement. He has worked at research institutes in Israel, Portugal, and France as well as at a number of private engineering firms.

Ari Rable has served as a research scientist at the Centre d’Energetique of the l’Ecole de Mines in Paris, as well as research professor at the University of Colorado. He received his PhD in Physics from the University of California at Berkeley, and has worked at the Argonne National Laboratory, the Solar Energy Research Institute, and the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies at Princeton University. Dr. Rable is the author of more than 50 journal articles, numerous technical reports, and holds 10 patents. He is a member of the American Physical Society and ASHRAE.

About the Author
Emil Bock (1895-1959) was born in Wuppertal, Germany, in 1895. He studied German and modern languages at the University of Bonn and, after joining the army, was wounded at the war front in Flanders. In 1916, while still in the army, he met the famous evangelical preacher, Friedrich Rittelmeyer, in Berlin. After his release from the military, he studied Protestant theology in Berlin and later attended priest courses with Rudolf Steiner in Stuttgart and Dornach. With Rittelmeyer, Bock helped establish the Christian Community (the movement for religious renewal) in 1922 and soon became its leader, a position he held until his death. In November, 1922, Bock married Grete Seumer, with whom he had four children. He remained a priest, writer, and lecturer until his death in Stuttgart. Bock's many books include Genesis; Moses; Kings and Prophets; Caesars and Apostles, The Three Years; Saint Paul; and The Childhood of Jesus.

Can't just own one; all three in one a super deal!

I must admit, the first time I read THE SACRED ROMANCE was shortly after it's release, and although I liked the topic and initially what was said, I had trouble engrossing myself in it. Due to my struggle with that selection I figured I wouldn't like the author's other works. When I was given a copy of Wild at heart, I read it thinking how great it would be for men of any age and passed it on to my 80+ grandfather and my husband. The next book of John Eldredges' I received from my mom hoping to help me with raising my son, before I even finished it, I passed it on to yet another who was soul searching.
All of these literary pieces had very specific audiences. It wasn't until my perspective and understanding of life and truely living to the full was forever changed with the book WAKING THE DEAD, that I found what my heart was longing for! I especially found the prayer suggested in the book to bring me immediate understanding of the war I was in, at that moment, and for what I was being awoken.
I have lost track at around 10 copies purchased and passed on, most of which had simular impact on those I gave them to and were passed on from them as well. Due to reading an exerpt in the back portion of the book, I wanted to read DESIRE, so purchased this 3 book set for the cost and opportunity to pass on more! I found DESIRE to be the perfect resolution to WAKING THE DEAD, and actually found that it had a redemptive quality that lead me to not only reconsider THE SACRED ROMANCE, but to see it much more for the restorative potential, and deep impact it offers those who would understand the love of God. This collection is easily one of my favorites, a definate for any library. Other authors I reccomend are Max Lucado,Beth Moore, and Philip Yancy for literary ease of read and depth of topic.

Great book. With all 3 combined -it puts more light on the importance of your relationship with Jesus and why this is so key to growing in faith. For me. It put the value of loving God and the growing in wisdom in harmony with the growing of my personal growth of my soul. About the Author
Jonelle Patrick grew up in southern California, and is a graduate of Stanford University, as well as the Sendagaya Japanese Language School in Tokyo. In addition to being a systematic mangler of the more sophisticated bits of Japanese grammar, she harbors an irrational love of shiba inu dogs, chocolate mochi, and medieval reliquaries. She now divides her time between Tokyo and San Francisco.�

Jonelle Patrick launches her new mystery series with a burst of fresh new energy. Introducing Japanese culture and subcultures (for instance, elucidating the differences between Sweet Lolitas, Goth Lolitas, ad Punk Lolitas) with subtlety and finesse, not only does the reader get to enjoy a police procedural packed with detail and gripping suspense, but we're treated to romantic tension, deep friendships, filial duty, and rich characters torn between cultures. All in a delicious page-turner the mystery-lover will gobble up. This is sure to be a series to follow.

Though the characters are carefully drawn, and very sympathetic as they struggle to straddle traditional and western cultures, the great fun for me in reading "Nightshade" was the ability to explore contemporary Japan. Ms. Patrick has lived in Tokyo for long stretches, knows the language, and has an eye and ear for the city's quirky tribes and odd corners. I wanted to know whodunit, yes, but more than that, I wanted to spend more time in this place with this guide.

About the Author

Professor Dr. Jyoti Prakash Tamang is one of the authorities of global fermented foods and beverages for last 28 years. He did Ph.D. in Microbiology from North Bengal University, India in 1992, Post-doc research works from National Food Research Institute, Tsukuba, Japan in 1995, and Institute of Hygiene and Toxicology, Germany in 2002. He was awarded the prestigious National Bioscience Award of Department of Biotechnology by Government of India in 2005, and Gourmand Best Cookbook Award of Paris in 2010. He is a Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (2012), Fellow of Indian Academy of Microbiological Sciences (2010), and Fellow of Biotech Research Society of India (2006). He has published more than 135 research papers, and authored several books including (1) Himalayan Fermented Foods: Microbiology, Nutrition, and Ethnic Values (2010), (2) Fermented Foods and Beverages of the World (2011) and (3) Health Benefits of Fermented Foods and Beverages< (2015) all published by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, USA. He has one patent, and has produced several Ph.D. students.
